TORONTO - The doubles squash season starts on Ontario with the very popular Convenor's Cup event hosted by The Granite Club in Toronto. It is a long standing mixed doubles touranment that attracts some of the best players in the area.

Still riding the momentum of their rallying semifinal win from 1-2, 4-10 Sunday afternoon, top seeds Viktor Berg and Damien Mudge convincingly defeated three-time defending champions Paul Price and Ben Gould 15-12, 8 and 9 Monday night in the final round of the Big Apple Open, hosted by the New York Athletic Club in midtown Manhattan. In so doing, Mudge and Berg avenged their final-round losses to Price/Gould in the finals of this event each of the past two years and consolidated their two-week-old Briggs Cup championship in the 2009-10 season-opening tournament.

SPEED CHALLENGE UNRESOLVED
With a packed and passionate Racquet & Tennis Club gallery intently looking on, Ben Gould, the head pro of the host club, and John White defeated Damien Mudge and David Palmer 15-10 11-15 15-11 15-12 Thursday night in a $10,000 Challenge Match billed as “The Racquet Club Rumble” that featured a pair of recent world No. 1 singles players each of whom was paired up with doubles player who has held the world No. 1 ranking in calendar 2009.
